Journal Entry Six (5/13/25)

Tonight, while my husband, daughter, and I were all in the living room, we heard the refrigerator door shut. (My husband and I definitely heard it, I am not so sure about our daughter, as we did not question her too much about it.) My husband and I went to the kitchen to see if we could recreate the sound.

Cheetoh and Luc, two of our cats, are both able to reach the top of the fridge, so we tried to open the door a bit and test to see if it would close by itself if they had managed to get it open. Upon this test, we found the door will not shut on its own unless you give it a pretty good push.

If one of the cats had opened it from above, then the other one would have to have been on the floor and pushed it shut, which seems more bizarre than something unseen having shut it at this point. When it happened, my husband was standing in the living room facing the kitchen (we have a very open layout) and should have been able to see if someone or something was by the fridge.

The timing of this event strikes me as curious. I have been bottle feeding a kitten, and somehow, we went through an entire jug of formula in about one week. This was a 32 oz jug (946 ml), and the kitten was only drinking about 10 ml per feeding. I could not bring myself to believe that I had fed the kitten 12 times per day over that week, as I had not been getting up overnight but maybe once or twice, if it allowed me to sleep. Maybe I am connecting dots that just do not need to be connected there, but it all seems too bizarre.
