Journal Entry 11 (5/29/25)

Today, our neighbors were visiting, and something odd happened. We were all in the living room (my neighbor, her three kids, and my daughter and I), and one of the boys, who is about eight years old, climbed up a step ladder that we had set up for the foster kitten. (A heat lamp was attached to it, shining down into a small wire kennel with a basket inside.) When he gripped the handle, the heat lamp seemed to short out, and the light flickered. His mom and I both noticed immediately and went to inspect the cord and the outlet.

The cord was still plugged into the power outlet, and the boy was not touching anything other than the handle of the step ladder, yet somehow, it caused the lamp to flicker like that several times.

After they went home, I messed with the cord to see if I could make it short out by wiggling the cord close to where it connects to the lamp, and it would flicker a bit, but never go out. Just a strange occurrence?

** This was the end of the first entry for that day. Later, I added another note:

My daughter and I went outside to play for a bit after the neighbors left, and when we came back inside, the clock on the stove was off by 30 minutes. It was not flashing as it usually does when the power goes off. So, another odd coincidence?
